Participle কাকে বলে?
Verb এর যে রূপ একই সাথে verb এবং adjective এর কাজ করে তাকে participle বলে।

Participle কত প্রকার?
ইহা তিন প্রকার।
যথা:
- Present participle
- Past participle
- Perfect participle
Present Participle কাকে বলে?
Present participle (V+ing): Verb এর Present form-এর সাথে ing যুক্ত হয়ে একই সাথে Verb ও Adjective-এর কাজ করে।
- I saw a flying bird. (v+ adj)
আমি একটি উড়ন্ত পাখি দেখলাম।
- The cuckoo is a singing bird. (v+ adj)
কোকিল গায়ক পাখি।
- Barking dogs seldom bite. (v + adj)
ঘেউ ঘেউ করা কুকুর কদাচিৎ কামড়ায়।
- I saw a sleeping beggar. (v+ adj)
আমি একজন ঘুমন্ত ভিক্ষুক দেখলাম।
- Bangladesh is a developing country. (v+ adj)
বাংলাদেশ একটি উন্নয়নশীল দেশ।
- This is my reading room. (v+ adj)
এই আমার পড়ার কক্ষ।
- This is my drawing room. (v+ adj)
এই আমার বৈঠকখানা।
- I like rising sun. (v + adj)
পছন্দ করি।
- He likes teaching profession. (v+ adj)
তিনি শিক্ষকতা পেশা পছন্দ করেন
- It is a charming scenery. (v + adj)
ইহা একটি মনোমুগ্ধকর দৃশ্য।
👉Note: Relative Pronoun এর পরিবর্তে Adjective এর ন্যায় Present participle ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।
- The people living in city are not always happy.
- The teachers working here get handsome salary.
Present participle এর ব্যবহার
✔️Continuous Tense গঠন করতে Present Participle ব্যবহৃত হয়।
যেমন:
- He is fishing in the pond.
- He is reading a book.
✔️Present participle এর আগে বসে Attributive Adjective-এর মত কাজ করে ।
যেমন:
- A barking dog seldom bites.
- Football is an exciting game.
✔️একই Subject কর্তৃক সম্পাদিত দুটি কাজের মধ্যে যে কাজটি আগে সম্পন্ন হয়, সেটি Present participle হয়।
যেমন:
- Finishing the work, he came back home.
- Eating food, we went to market.
Past Participle কাকে বলে?
Past participle (verb এর past participle)
✔️Verb এর Past participle একই সাথে Verb ও Adjective-এর কাজ করে। Past participle verb হিসেবে বসে।
যেমন:
- I have finished the work.
আমি কাজটি শেষ করেছি
- English is taught here.
এখানে ইংরেজি শিখানো হয়।
- Rice is sold here.
এখানে চাল বিক্রি করা হয়।
- He is known here.
তিনি এখানে পরিচিত।
- Rice is cooked at seven a.m.
সকাল সাতটার সময় ভাত রান্না করা হয়।
✔️Past Participle, Adjective হিসেবে বসে।
যেমনঃ
- America is a developed country.
আমেরিকা একটি উন্নত দেশ।
- It is a broken chair.
ইহা একটি ভাঙা চেয়ার
- He lives in a rented house.
সে একটি ভাড়া বাড়িতে বাস করে।
- It is a written report.
এটা একটি লিখিত রিপোর্ট
- He is a married man.
তিনি একজন বিবাহিত ব্যক্তি।
👉Note: Feel, felt, find, found, keep, kept, hear, heard, notice, noticed, see, saw, smell, smelt, watch, watched, ইত্যাদি verb গুলোর পরে Object+ Present Participle বসে।
যেমন:
- I heard her singing a song.
- I smelt something burning.
Past participle এর ব্যবহার
✔️Verb এর Perfect Tense গঠন করতে Past participle বসে।
যেমন:
- I have done the work.
- He has written a book.
✔️Passive voices গঠন করতে Verb -এর Past participle form বসে।
যেমন:
- English is taught here.
- Mobile phone is made in China.
✔️Having, being, to be, has, have, had ইত্যাদির পর গঠন করতে Verb – এর Past participle form বসে।
যেমন:
- Having seen the dog, he ran away.
✔️Adjective হিসাবে Verb-এর Past participle form বসে।
যেমন:
- America is a developed country.
- It is a broken chair.
✔️Plural common noun হিসাবে Verb-এর Past participle form বসে।
যেমন:
- The educated are honored everywhere.
- The retired are asset for any country.
✔️Noun এর শেষে ‘ed’ যুক্ত হয়ে Adjective হয়।
যেমন:
- He is a kind hearted man.
- He is a noble minded man.
✔️Relative noun এর পরিবর্তে Verb-এর Past participle form বসে।
যেমন:
- The car made in Japan is working well.
- The mobile phone made in China is cheap.
➡️Perfect Participle কাকে বলে?
Perfect participle (Having +Verb এর Past participle)
👉Verb এর Past participle এর পূর্বে ‘having’ যুক্ত হয়ে একই সাথে Verb ও Adjective-এর কাজ করে।
Perfect participle এর কিছু উদাহরন
- Having finished the work. I went home.
কাজটি শেষ করে আমি বাড়িতে গেলাম।
- Having seen him, I became astonished.
তাকে দেখে আমি অবাক হলাম
- Having gone there. I saw him.
সেখানে গিয়ে আমি তাকে দেখলাম
- Having boiled water, we drank.
পানি সিদ্ধ করে আমরা পান করি।
- Having written the letter. I posted.
আমি চিঠিটি লিখে পোস্ট করেছিলাম।
