Adjective Clause কাকে বলে?

যে Subordinate Clause বাক্যে একটি adjective হিসেবে কাজ করে এবং noun বা pronoun-কে modify করে তাকে Adjective Clause বলে।

বলা প্রয়োজন, Adjective Clause এবং Noun Clause উভয়ই Who, which, that, when, why, where, how ইত্যাদি দ্বারা শুরু হয়। কিন্তু এদের মধ্যে অবশ্যই পার্থক্য আছে তা হলো Adjective Clause এর ক্ষেত্রে Antecedent  থাকে কিন্তু Noun Clause এ Antecedent থাকে না। 

যেমন:

• I know who has done it. (Noun Clause)
• I know the man who has done it. ( Adjective clause)

Adjective Clauses কে সাধারণত পাঁচ প্রকার।

যথা:

১. Adjective Clause এর মধ্যে Relative Pronoun গুলো Verb এর Subject হিসাবে কাজ করে।

যেমন:

• The man who was injured in an accident yesterday has died.

২. Adjective Clauses এর মধ্যে Relative Pronoun গুলো verb এর Object হিসাবে কাজ করে।

যেমন:

• This is the pen that I lost Yesterday

৩. Adjective Clauses এর মধ্যে Relative Pronoun গুলো Preposition এর object হিসাবে কাজ করে।

যেমন:

• This is the book about which I told you.

৪. Adjective Clauses এর মধ্যে Relative pronoun ‘Whose’ Possessive হিসাবে কাজ করে।

যেমন: 

• This man whose car crashed against a tree died immediately. 

৫. Adjective Clauses গুলো Relative adverbs- যেমন: When, where এবং why দ্বারা শুরু করা হয়।

যেমন:

• The reason why he did that was unknown.
• Tell me the way how he did it.

Adverbial Clause কাকে বলে?

যে Subordinate Clause একটি বাক্যে একটি adverb হিসেবে কাজ করে এবং একটি verb বা একটি adjective-clause বা অন্য একটি adverb clause-কে modify করে তাকে Adverb Clause বলে।

Adverbial Clause হলো complex sentence এর একটি অংশ যার মধ্যে একটি Subject ও একটি Finite verb থাকে। এগুলি Sub Ordinate Clause হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Adverbial Clause প্রধানত ১০ প্রকার।

যথা:

1. Adverbial Clause of Time: I would play football when i was in Dhaka.
2. Adverbial Clause of Place: I live in Rajsahi where there is a university.
3. Adverbial Clause of Reason: As the weather was bad, we could not go outside.
4. Adverbial Clause of Result or effect: She us so weak that she can’t walk.
5. Adverbial Clause of Purpose: He studied heavily so that he could pass in the exam.
6. Adverbial Clause of Condition: If i were a bird, I would fly in the sky.
7. Adverbial Clause of Manner: She behaved as if she were a mad.
8. Adverbial Clause of Comparison: Shohan is as brilliant as Sifat(is).
9. Adverbial Clause of Concession: Though he is rich, he is unhappy.
10. Adverbial Clause of Degree: Rashid does not write so neatly as Mamun does.
